What You Need To Know To Write A Feature Article

Article writing serves many purposes in today’s Internet marketing world, and learning how to write a feature article is no exception. Writing a feature article is similar to writing a "regular" article except for a few small differences. When you understand these differences, you will be able to write a powerful feature article that other webmasters and ezine owners would want to publish on their websites and in their newsletters.

First and foremost, you must understand that a feature article must be valuable to the person who is publishing it. What does valuable mean? It means that if the publisher were to use their article on their website or in their newsletter, their audience would find information useful to them in the article. How does an author create value? The article should answer a common question asked by a specific target market, or it should solve a problem that is common to a specific target market. This is a sure-fire way to make sure your articles are of value to your target market. You will find that you will have an easier time of getting someone to publish your article on their web-site, or in their newsletter.

Feature articles tend to be longer than regular articles. If a standard article is around 550 words, a feature article would be between 750 and 1000 words. Feature articles cover more detail than a standard article or typically give a more in depth explanation of a solution to the problem being addressed. For example, a regular article may give the top 5 reasons why you should do research before writing an article but a feature article would give the top 10 reasons why you should do research before writing an article.

Feature articles also cover topics that are current and hot. The easiest way to get your article published in another owner’s newsletter, or on another webmasters site is to cover a topic that everyone is currently talking about (related to your target niche of course). A good example would be to write an article about a new product or service that just came to market. Writing a feature review article is a great way to provide value to the reader of the article, it is also a great way to begin building those valuable relationships with people who can potentially send you a lot of traffic.

The last thing that most budding authors tend to forget is to make sure the site they would be sending the reader to relates to the topic of the article and will actually provide supporting information that would be useful to the reader. I have seen so many articles that send the reader to websites that are of a completely different subject and have no bearing to the article topic in any way. This is one of the quickest ways an author can destroy their own credibility, because it shows the reader that the author is really not interested in serving the reader of the article. Remember, the purpose of a feature article is to showcase the author’s knowledge and to get people to the website who may be even more interested in their product or service.

It really doesn’t take much to learn how to write a feature article… especially if you already know how to write an article. The end goal is usually the same, however a bit more is expected out of a feature article, especially if you expect webmasters and publishers to showcase your article in their website or newsletter
